The Citizens Advice service provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination.

The service aims:
  • To provide the advice people need for the problems they face 
  • To improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives

We can offer Advice, Information, specialist help (in some areas) or signpost you onto other organisations that can help. The areas we can help with are:

Benefits – entitlement, appeals, reviews etc
 
Debt – repayment, negotiating, Debt Relief Orders, Bankruptcy, etc
 
Housing – Repossessions (rent & mortgage), landlord problems, homeless reviews etc

What Is Discrimination?

  • An act or omission that is unfair, and discriminates between groups or individuals - at work, or in other areas of life.
  • Unfairness is today unlawful and can be challenged.
  • Discrimination law now covers race, gender, sexuality, disability, age and religion/faith.
  • This could help you tackle problems about work, with goods & services or in education, housing etc.
How can we help?
  • By advising you on what to do next.
  • Assessing the merit and predicting the outcome of your case.
  • Assisting you in producing a statement or letters.
  • Helping you complete and send statutory questionnaires.
  • Supporting you in negotiating a settlement.
  • Representing you at hearings.
